So I think you agree that I needed to change our address with HMRC. In June I wrote a letter, to HMRC, Central Agent Authorisation Team at Longbenton. They updated the new address for Self-Assessment and Corporation tax, but told me by letter, that I had to do all the payroll clients individually by supplying a list of clients names together with the PAYE reference numbers. This I did and heard nothing....... I thought perhaps some new 64-8 forms would help, so I contacted all the clients and asked for new signed forms. I posted these off with a covering letter, and still nothing.
So today I rang the HMRC online helpline, and amazingly they said, yes of course, we can do this. It may have taken me 2 minutes of listening to the message to speak to someone, but to find out that is all I needed to do to after all this time was amazing. Certainly not what I expected.
But why did no-one tell me that this is all I had to do? And why does each tax system within HMRC have different procedures, which change without letting anyone know?
